TafelTijd aims to optimize the restaurant industry's operations and elevate the dining experience by minimizing no-shows, cutting down on food waste, and streamlining the payment process for diners.

Problem

The restaurant industry faces significant challenges with high rates of diners not showing up for their reservations and difficulties in managing food supplies efficiently. These issues lead to unnecessary food waste, as restaurants often prepare meals that are not needed, and a struggle to serve as many customers as possible because they cannot accurately predict how many people will actually come. Additionally, diners experience delays and inconvenience due to the time it takes to order and wait for food upon arriving at the restaurant. This situation is further complicated when groups dine together and wish to split the bill, often leading to awkward and time-consuming payment processes. Collectively, these problems result in lost revenue for restaurants, environmental harm due to wasted food, and a less enjoyable dining experience for customers.

Solution

Our proposed solution, TafelTijd, introduces a pre-pay option for diners at the time of reservation. This approach ensures that customers commit to their bookings, significantly reducing the likelihood of no-shows. With a reliable estimate of the day's clientele, restaurants can prepare meals in advance, aligning food preparation with actual demand, thereby minimizing food waste and increasing their capacity to serve more customers efficiently. Additionally, TafelTijd streamlines the dining experience by eliminating wait times for ordering and food preparation. Diners enjoy their meals sooner and with less hassle. A unique feature of TafelTijd is the ability for diners to split the bill at the time of pre-paying, simplifying the payment process and enhancing the social dining experience.
